Kalin Tomov

PositionHead of Competitiveness Section, Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU

Kalin is Head of the Competitiveness Section at Permanent representation of Bulgaria to the EU, PhD at the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU. He is also a member of the Council of the EU’s High Level Group on Competitiveness and Growth. Kalin works on issues relating to industrial policy, internal market policy, competitiveness and growth. During the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, he was responsible for the overall coordination of the Competitiveness Council as well as Chair of the Council Working Parties on Competition, Industry, and the Internal Market.

Kalin has held various positions in policy making and political cabinets in the Government of Bulgaria and used to chair the Board of Directors of a company with approximately 500 staff.

Kalin holds a PhD in European Economic Studies. His doctoral thesis was about “Development of the Digital Single Market of the EU” and he is the co-author of the Regional Research Paper “Integration of the Western Balkans in the Internal Market.”
